The Freakwave Festival, originally started as a wake-boading party that has since developed into a full-fledged festival, asked us to provide stage production for the main stage. This manifested in a three forms: an LED installation, projection mapping and standard screen visuals. The LED installation consisted of a collection of tetrahedrons spread throughout the hall, above the audience. The installation invokes the imagery of stars and constellations, which is what we referenced with the name of this project: Andromeda & Perseus.

The second part of the project was a facade for the DJ booth that was used for projection mapping. Keeping in line with the geometric shapes above the audience, the booth was designed to be very polygonal. The Paranormal Unicorn and the visual collective Neon Golden both produced content for the booth we affectionately refer to as Schnieblie.

The third facet of the visual show was standard screen visuals. Luma Launisch, Neon Golden and ourselves shared the screen for our VJ sets over the weekend, playing for such artists as Reptile Youth and Blumentopf.

The mapping was all done from a laptop running MadMapper. The screen visuals and mapped visuals were run from 2 layers in Resolume.

The 24 tetrahedrons are controlled by DMX dimmers and an Artnet node. The content is generated by a custom Max/MSP patch which generates DMX values.
