Freakwave Festival 2012

We had an absolutely lovely time playing the Freakwave Festival last Friday.
We had a chance to meet some really cool people and had a pretty crazy weekend overall. The Freakwave Festival isn’t just for music, but a festival of sports, fashion, visuals and film. Seriously cool stuff. We watched the Slackline World Championship (and subsequently tried it drunkenly ourselves), saw some great short films at an outdoor screening and got up to all sorts of shenanigans. With talent like Ogris Debris, ETEPETETE, Funkberater Exklusiv! and more, I’d say the crowd got their fair share of vibes and visuals. We were in charge of the visual program on Friday and were accompanied by the boys from Schaukasten with their mapped, hanging squares. If I may reiterate, seriously cool stuff. Check out this mind-blowing rendition of Sea Lion Woman that Ogris Debris threw down at our stage.

For me personally, the highlight of the weekend though was the night we didn’t play, on Saturday. One of the most talented beatboxers I’ve had the pleasure to meet, Knackeboul, Switzerland’s premiere mouth-music-man, was backstage with us when we stumbled upon a piano. Soon enough, I was banging away and beatboxing while he was freestyling in the most hardcore Swiss dialect. Hit the jump for a bonus video of that jam.
