We were commisioned to create a light installation for theJüdisches Museum Wien(Jewish Museum of Vienna) for their latest exhibition “Kabbalah”.

We arehappy to announce that the piece can be experienced there until the 3rd ofMarch 2019.The piece depicts the first acts of creation: Tzimtzum (contraction) and Shevirat ha-kelim (the shattering of vessels).

As His first act, God retreated into himself and subsequently introduced light into nothingness. The vesselsmeantto hold some of this light were unable to contain it and shattered under the pressure, scattering themselves into empty space. These shards are the basis for the material world, yet they also contain the evil forces of the universe. It was an incredibly interesting project to work on and we learned a lot about the mystical world of the Kabbalah.
