This summer we produced the live show for Camo & Krooked’s European Zeitgeist Tour 2014. We were asked to do a full-scale festival production for their show, the entire visual aspect. The Möbius stage element was used again and we created a lot of fresh content for it. Working together with Camo & Krooked’s longstanding visual artist Mad, we integrated the visuals into the live show using a system that interacted directly with Ableton Live. Quite a few of the show’s visuals were provided by The Paranormal Unicorn and were also integrated into the live show.

…the human element is an incredibly important part of a light show

The entire show was controlled via a Max/MSP patch that was directly connected to Camo & Krooked’s laptops. We were all running instances of Ableton that were synced via OSC. All input from their midi devices was also sent directly to the visual server. Everything was controlled by just one visual server. All the data was then translated into triggers for the visuals and the lights. We did maintain an element of performance with a MIDI controller though, as we believe that the human element is incredibly important in a light show.
